Why it matters

Activities build on a basic understanding of gerrymandering. Students draw connections about how this issue impacts them and start to think about how maps can be drawn more fairly.

Time commitment: One class period

    First, ask students about what political issues do they care about. Then pick one, and as a class trace out why Pennsylvanians aren't getting what they want out of Harrisburg or Washington.
