Fall 2019 is a crucial period for redistricting reform in Pennsylvania. Are you ready to enter your map into DTL's next competition? Here's how.

WHAT’S THE SAME?

  • The congressional competition is still on DistrictBuilder, drawing 17 districts. You can get started here.

  • The Youth and Higher Education divisions will award regional prizes ($500 for 1st place; $250 for 2nd place; plus honorable mentions). The statewide grand prize winners from each division will be chosen from regional honorees and receive $5,000.

  • The public can choose the People’s Choice champion from statewide finalists.

WHAT’S DIFFERENT?

  • The Youth and Higher Education regional competitions will be split between two regions instead of three: eastern and western.

  • All entries in the adult division will automatically go to the statewide competition. There will be no regional awards in this division.

  • The adult statewide grand prize will be $2,000. Second prize will be $1,000.

WHAT’S NEW? STATE LEGISLATIVE MAPPING COMPETITION

  • Draw the Lines has partnered with Dave’s Redistricting App so Pennsylvanians can draw state Senate and state House maps on his web-based platform.

  • DTL will award two (2) $1,000 grand prizes and $500 2nd place prizes in the state legislative competition, one each for the State House and State Senate categories.

  • Awards will be judged by the DTL statewide judging panel, using the same rubric as the congressional mapping competition.

  • You can submit a map to the competition from our website.

DEADLINE:

Deadline for all submissions is 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, December 12.
