Lawrence Husick, an attorney who has served as a volunteer speaker for Fair Districts PA, won the judges' prize for best story for his account of his experiences touring the state talking about gerrymandering. Dave Davies, the well-known reporter and host for WHYY public radio, won the audience prize for his tale of what it's like to to cover and try to hold to account the Democratic power brokers of Philadelphia. Chris Satullo, project director of DTL and former commentator for NPR and the Inquirer, emceed the event. David Thornburgh, president and CEO of the Committee of Seventy, was on the panel judging the story-tellers. Among the topics of other stories were: talking with a relative who voted the other way in 2016; helping college students make their pitches for campus office; serving as a committeeperson in Philadelphia.
