Judges' Statement
What distinguished this team's map is the essay, which was done in video format. One key point they make is that “competitive races require candidates to put more effort into campaigning.” The map hit really nice targets on all three of their priorities – compactness (30.6 score), competitive elections (9/18 districts) and equal population (6700). Team Oop created the map as part of a school project at Delone Catholic High School in York, which gets credit for having submitted a number of very good maps to the first round of the Draw The Lines PA contest.
